NEWARK CITY SHOOTING. MAN KILLED IN HOME.
NEWARK CITY, August 17th, The Newark City Police Department announced today that Todd Farley, 31-years-old was placed into custody for the brutal slaying of 38 year old Charles A. Bedford and the assault on his 9 year old daughter, Rose L. Bedford.
Charles official time of death was estimated to have been between 6:33 P.M and 7:45 P.M, but his body was discovered the following day in his library at 10:00 A.M. by 28 year old, Tiana Underwood. Rose was in critical condition and admitted to Saint Michael's Hospital.
"I'll never forget it," Tiana told authorities, "She was barely alive, still clinging onto his body with all that she had."
Rose had suffered severe physical injuries; two fractured ribs, a broken wrist and sustained massive blood loss due to a shard of glass embedded into her right shoulder.
An autopsy report revealed that Charles had received multiple stab wounds to the chest and the left side of his hip by a sharp edged weapon before being shot in the head at point-blank range from a .9 mm caliber handgun.
According to the police statement, Todd and Charles had both quarreled with one another in the past, which resulted in his murder. When asked why Rose had been injured, Todd replied, "She wasn't a part of it. She just got in the way. The brat stabbed me in the face. It pissed me off."
Todd Farley will be facing multiple charges; burglary, breaking and entering, assault with a deadly weapon, assault on a minor and first degree murder. His trial date is set for September 19th.
"That man never had any enemies," Tiana continued, "Charles was the sweetest guy you could ever know."
